10. 3/7/22 vs Chicago - stat line - 43 Points, 14 rebounds, 2 steals, 3 blocks, 56% FG
The mayor of Chicago Joel Embiid had yet another unreal performance against the up-and-coming Bulls. While the Bulls fell off towards the end of the year, and struggle against top 10 teams, earlier in the year, the Bulls were alone on top of the eastern conference being led by then MVP candidate Demar Derozan. Being the best performer offensively by far while at the same time acting as an elite defender and a great rim protector gave way for a historic illustration of legendary skill.
9. 12/28/21 at Toronto - stat line - 36 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 69% FG
As great as 36, 11, and 4 is, the only reason this game is on this list is because of who it came against. The Toronto Raptors are infamous for guarding Joel Embiid with 4 players being over 6ft 8 and rotating to open shooters with length and athleticism. The Raptors double Embiid once he catches the ball no matter where he is on the floor. That being said, going into Toronto and performing like this despite the ridiculous amount of attention he receives from the defense is truly special.
8. 3/27/22 At Phoenix - stat line - 37 points, 15 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 blocks 52%FG
On the road against the best team in the NBA by far with his 2nd and 3rd best player playing poor offensively, Joel Embiid dropped a monster stat line giving his team a chance to compete in this game. This game represented the undeniable truth that this team may not be able to hang with the best in a 7 game series, but Joel certainly is. After two dominant performances against the Lakers and Clippers in LA, ending this road trip with a monster performance against the west champs despite the loss gave Sixers fans something to feel great about moving forward.
7. 4/9/22 vs Indiana - stat line - 41 points, 20 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, 82%FG
Joel Embiid must just not like the Indiana Pacers. He has 3 career games with the ridiculous stat line of 40 points and 20 rebounds, and all of them came against Indiana. Joel Embiid had the first 40, 20 game of this NBA season and the last one in the NBA since he did it back in 2019 in the Orlando bubble. Joel Embiids last impression on this season was this nuclear performance. This game being 7th is only because the Pacers are a lottery team who played small against a center who averaged 30 points per game for the first time since the 80s.
6. 4/3/22 At Cleveland - stat line - 44 points, 17 rebounds, 5 blocks, 1 steal, 46%FG
This performance rated at number 6 is a testament to the amount of record-breaking all-time performances Joel Embiid has had this season. When was the last time you saw an NBA player score 40 plus points, 15 plus rebounds, and 5 plus blocks? Joel made it clear that he was going for the MVP award near the end of the season with game after game after game scoring 40 plus. Joel Embiid's ability to score the ball at an all-time elite level playing the center position is unique and special to watch.
5. 1/15/22 At Miami - stat line - 32 Points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 55%FG
While watching this game, I turned it off early as I thought Joel Embiid and role players did not have a chance to go into Miami and upset the best team in the eastern conference. Then Joel took the game over single-handedly in the second half, and the fourth quarter and somehow led this team to a win. If Toronto is the team built to stop Joel Embiid, then Miami is 2nd. Bam Adebayo is arguably the best defensive center in the NBA, and add players like Jimmy Butler, and PJ Tucker, and good luck scoring at the rim. Despite the elite length and physicality the Miami defense presents, Embiid had yet another memorable performance for the ages.
4. 12/30/21 At Brooklyn - stat line - 34 Points, 7 Rebounds, 3 steals, 1 block, 48%FG
When you get to play Kevin Durant 4 times a year, winning many of those games will be very very very very hard. The Sixers were only able to win 1 out of those 4 games, but that one game was needed, and an absolutely incredible performance by Joel Embiid against Arguably the best player in the NBA led to a massive statement win in Brooklyn. After getting waived off of the court by Durant a few weeks earlier, Joel returned the favor to Durant and enjoyed a little trash talk near the end of the game as well.
3. 12/20/21 At Boston - stat line - 41 Points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 blocks, 2 steals, 52%FG
The Boston Celtics will always be our bitter rivals. Especially when both teams are legitimate contenders, performances like these stand out especially on the road. Another 40 and 10 game in a hostile environment against a top defense and needing as many wins as possible presents the absolute dominance Joel can have over any given game. This game gives Sixers fans hope that the inconsistent play from the rest of the team won't be the downfall of our season if Joel can play similar to this in a 7 game series.
2. 1/19/22 vs Orlando - stat line - 50 Points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 steal, 27 minutes, 74%FG
Fifty points in 27 minutes. What else needs to be said. Watching this game on my tv felt like watching JV vs varsity. Joel Embiid was no match for Robin Lopez or Mo Bamba near the rim. Joel had 20 points in the first quarter alone and all 4 other starters combined had 2 points. This was a record-breaking performance. Given the minutes, Joel easily could have scored 60 points and possibly 70. All in all, this game showed how dominant Joel can be when guarded one on one.
2/17/22 at Milwaukee - stat line - 42 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, 3/4 3pt FG, 67%FG
What could possibly be viewed as Joel Embiid's defining MVP moment of the season, after an abysmal loss at home to the Boston Celtics, Joel Embiid led a short-handed Sixers team to a massive road win against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks to go into the all-star break on a very high note. Joel Embiid throughout the game was scoring at will and routinely scoring over double and triple teams. This is yet another example of the value Joel Embiid has on the Sixers as he is the entire offense at points in the game.
